• Permanent jewelry is a type of jewelry that you can’t take on or off because it doesn’t have an end. Where there would otherwise be a manual closure, the piece is welded together to make it clasp-less jewelry. The intention of permanent jewelry is to be worn as an everyday piece of jewelry that lives on you as long as you’d like.

  • If you need to remove your jewelry for any reason, simply cut it off with scissors. Cut the ring that attaches the chain together to ensure the cleanest look. Re-welds cost $15. Keep in mind that you may be required to remove your jewelry during medical procedures such as X-Rays or MRI’s. Consult your doctor if this will be required.

  • Nope! The welder will never touch your skin, and we place a leather patch between your skin and the chain for your protection. There will be a quick flash of light, and then it’s over!

  • Yes! TSA allows you to leave on all jewelry.

  • Gold filled is a solid layer of gold mechanically bonded to a base - jeweler’s brass. US standards require the gold layer to consist of 1/20th (or 5%) of the jewelry’s total weight. Gold filled jewelry has almost 100x more gold than gold plated jewelry. Since the gold is mechanically bonded to the base rather than plated, it can’t rub off, unlike gold plated jewelry. It has the same qualities as solid gold jewelry at a fraction of the cost - it's tarnish resistant and waterproof, making it great for everyday wear. Gold filled jewelry is also great for people who are allergic to metals, as the material will not cause an allergic reaction.

  • Sterling silver jewelry is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. While it is created to last, it does require a bit more care than gold-filled jewelry. Sterling silver will oxidize over time depending on several factors, but the tarnish/oxidation of sterling silver can be cleaned off. Please see the question/answer below for how to properly clean and care for your jewelry!

  • We have found that sterling styles are prone to oxidation after exposure to pools or hot tubs that are improperly chemically balanced. A gentle wipe with a polishing cloth, or quick scrub with a baking soda/water paste and soft brush is all that is required to restore the original sterling shine.

When applying lotions, self tanners, and heavy cosmetics, try to avoid the area of your jewelry piece or move it to the side and let the area dry before allowing your jewelry to make contact with it again.

Another culprit of oxidation is the body’s pH balance (chemistry). Sometimes a person’s body pH levels are more alkaline, which will turn sterling silver a darker color. There have been some cases where medications cause this type of reaction with sterling silver.

If your sterling piece ever looks tarnished or has darkened, simply put a plastic glove between your skin and the jewelry piece, use a toothbrush to apply and scrub on a paste solution of baking soda and water, let it sit for 5-10 mins, and then rinse away with warm water. A sterling silver cleaner will also do the trick!

To care for gold-filled jewelry, use a toothbrush with dish soap and warm water about once a week.

  • Hopefully many years! But it really depends on the chain you choose and your lifestyle. Please note, permanent does not equal invincible. While it is designed for everyday wear, it is still fine jewelry and can break. On average, your jewelry should last 1-3 years!

  • Our chains are made of high-quality materials meant to resist everyday wear and tear, yet dainty enough to come off for safety's sake. Permanent jewelry does not mean indestructible jewelry, it just means the piece is clasp-less. Any piece of jewelry is susceptible to damage when met with opposing force. If your chain broke at the weld site (jump ring) within two weeks of purchase, we will re-weld your chain free of charge. If your chain broke within the chain (not at the jump ring), you have the option to add another jump ring or purchase a new chain for 50% off. If your chain breaks within two weeks of purchase, and you would like it fixed or replaced, please go to the contact page and submit a form. Time of contact must be within two weeks of purchase. For breaks that occur outside of the two week period, if the item is still in your possession, a re-welding fee of $15 + tax will be charged. Please note, we do not replace or reimburse for lost chains, nor do we offer returns or refunds.
